Employment Insurance (EI) Compassionate Care Benefits
As of January 4, 2004, compassionate care benefits may be paid up to a maximum of 6 weeks to a person who has to be absent from work to provide care or support to a gravely ill family member at risk of dying within 26 weeks. Unemployed persons on EI can also ask for this type of benefits.

This Union has gone through many states of interpretation defining definitions with our Insurance Company and are still working to understand all of the terms.

|
EXTENDED HEALTH CARE AND DENTAL CARE |
If you or your dependents incur charges for any of the Covered Expenses specified, your Extended Health Care and Dental Care benefits can provide financial assistance.
|

|
TRAVEL PLAN; OUT-OF-PROVINCE/CANADA |
This benefit provides "Emergency" medical protection when traveling or vacationing outside your Province of residence or Canada for up to 183 days. (Travel out of Canada/Province for other than health reasons.)

INCOME PROTECTION PROGRAM W.I. = Weekly Income |
This benefit provides a portion of your salary during the first twenty-six (26) weeks of recognized absence from work.

|
LTD = Long Term Disability |
|
After receiving W.I. to the maximum benefit period (twenty-six (26) weeks), the LTD benefit will provide an income if you are unable to perform all duties of your regular occupation on a full time basis, until age sixty-five (65) or if you should elect to retire early, LTD will cease as of your date of early retirement.

This benefit is comprised of life and accident insurance plans that help provide financial protection for you and your family in case of death or accident injury. |
